Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology is also known as MIT Muzaffarpur or MIT. It was just seven years after independence when it came into existence. On September 25, 1954, Sri C.P.N. Sinha, the governor of East Punjab at the time, inaugurated it. The college was started with just 45 students in the civil engineering branch. At that time, it was known as the “College of Civil Engineering, Muzaffarpur’. It is an AICTE-approved institute under Bihar Engineering University, Patna, and managed by the Department of Science and Technology, Bihar.
